Tux typhoon season in the China Sea, says the Sydney Morning Herald of December 14, war a pretty heavy one thle year. One ot the fine steamers of the Messageries Maritimes China liue of mail steamers, the Natal, got into the track of a tornado, and had her decks swept; she however reached Singapore, and had to be docked. Cheefqo the Merlin narrowly escaped being sunk by an immense junk which was driven ashqre. A British steamer the Fbra Ohorn Klay, sustained considerable damage on deck; and the British steamer, Abyssinia, from Vancouver to Hongkong, was hove to for 80 hours, and the barometer was at 28.75. Several junks were lost. A girl, four men, and a boy were picked up by a passing vessel at sea after a hurricane, and reported 8 having sunk from exhaustion. News is also to hand by the Airlie that an outbreak at Formosa had taken place, and 200 soldiers were reported filled, p was also stated that a nephew of the Governor of Formosa lost his life at the hands of too natives, Tremendous floods have eoonrred in China, The destruction of life and property was terrible ; villages were swept away. A guafioat which arrived at Ning Pofrom Neuohow reported passing eevsral hundred bodice floating inthe water.
