A technical question having arisen, the committee who are considering the question of the investment of trust funds in colonial stock, have adjourned till January 2nd. The details of Major Pinto's raid up the Zambesi have been confirmed to a large extent. Spain and France support Portugal in her attitude of resistance to Great Britain. The libel case against Mr Parke, editor ot the North London Press, has been adjourned till next session, to enable the plea of justification which the defendant has filed to be considered. Bail has been allowed. The Pall Mall Gazette says that it is rumored that the Prince of Wales has recalled Prince Albert Victor from India. The Parnell Commission will make its report in February. Cypher orders have been sent to the naval commander on the Zanzibar station, and the Mediterranean and Channel fleets have been ordered to their respective depots to take in stores. December 22.
It ia rumored that Bulgaria haa ceded the important fortified city of Widkin, on the Danube, to Auatria. Kosauth, the celebrated Hungarian patriot, has been reinstated to the rights of citizenship. A republican agitation has broken out in the island of Cuba.
The epidemic of influenza _ throughout Europe is seriously interfering with business. It is denied that the slaveowners instigated the deposition of the Emperor of Brazil. The Russian Press exhorts France to approve of the convention for abolishing in Egypt the law binding the subjects of a sovereign to render service without pay. O'Brien, on being released from gaol, received an ovation.
It is hoped that a peaceful settlement of the difficulty with Portugal will be arrived at, but the latter ia very dilatory. Lord Sails bury'e demands are express. It is intended to wait on Pinto for an explanation. In the meantime England is preparing to assert her rights. The Portuguese officers have presented Major Pinto with a eword of honor.
