K Dcwnniw. last night, The throwing open of the Exhibition to . the public on Christmas Day from 1- o’clock to 10.80 proved a great success. The number Of admissions was 11,599. ''AH the side shows did an Immense huanesa,'and the Eiffel tower and switchback railway wore very largely patronised. In the evening the Messiah was performed and was a groat success. A good story is H 4 about the country folk. They remained ta the bonding during tea hour and rushed th* eiteinert hul early. The consequence was that when the Danedin people entered the ball they found all the places taken up. The question is now being considered whether the Exhibition should be thrown op*n on Sunday afternoons.
