The Government Land Purchases.
SECURING THE WONDERLAND O»j THE NORTH. (FBOM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, last night. Negotiations for the purchase of Rotorua are still going on. All the signatures of residents in the locality have been obtained excepting one or two, but the natives having interests are scattered about the country, and the Government officials are now engaged hunting these people up, Next session power will be obtained from the Legislature to cut oft the portions of those who still object to sign. Whakarewareware is also under offer, and Waiotapu was bought some years ago, so that all the springs of any value will soon ba in possession of the Government. The block containing the oaves at Otahunga has only passed through the Court, and the tills was individualised quite recently, but the Government is negotiating for their purchase, and expect to complete the operation success* rally.
