The rifle meeting opened at Wingatui this morning. Lord and Lady Onslow *and Lard Carrington were amongst those present. A rifle having been laid by Captains Somerville and Coldina, Lady Onslow fired the first shot, an inner being registered amid cheers. Lord Onslow, in declaring the meeting open, welcomed Lord Carrington to Wellington. The match occupied all day. Mr Hoqkam, of Christchurch, won the interprovincjal chase match. He and Barnes played the deciding game ou Saturday.
