MORE HONORS FOR GISBORNE.
AftAtN It Is our pleasant duty to congratu< late the Gisborne Schools on the creditable result of their work. The local High School sent up for the matriculation examination six candidates. Five out of the six candidates passed. The result is something to be proud of, for honors of the kind are things of substantial worth, and reflect very great credit on the district. Mr Mann had to contend with many drawbacks which would nor have been met with in High Schools that have been longer established, and the success of the pupils is therefore doubly satisfactory both to him and to the pupils. While congratulating them we must express our sympathy for the “plucked” candidates, for in such circumstances non-success must be more keenly felt, but the good old motto “ Try, try again,” should be remembered, and a first failure in such a stiff examination should not causa any student to lose heart.
