JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS.

[FROM OUB OWN COBBESPONDKNT ] Auckland, last night. Tbe programme of evente for the Jubilee festivities yesterday was as excellent end varied as on the first day. During tho afternoon the town was quite deserted. Thousands went over to the North Shore to see the Maori war dance and swimming carnival in the Calliope Dock, Thousands more went to Ellerslie to see tho Jubilee race meeting provided by the Auckland Baaing Club, and yet other thousands were pressnt at the cricket match in the Domain, between Auckland and New South Wales, Tbe number of people who crossed the harbor to ths North Shore was phenomenal. Twenty thousand tickets were sold by the Ferry Company, and a considerable number ot people crossed in other boats. The swimming carnival was a big success, The weather was excellent and ths various events were keenly contested by a large number of competitors. For the chief race, the Jubilee Championship of New Zealand, 440 yards, prise £lO, there were twenty-two starters. H. J. Brilev won, his time being 7mln. lOseo. ; A. N. Qothle second, and P. Madigan third. In the champion diving match Walden Went the great distance of ?3 yards. The Vice Regal party returned from Ellerslie at 8 o'clock. They crowed to the North Shore in the Featherston steam yacht, and were present at tbe war dance, 'phig unfortunately bad to be cut short owing to the enormous attendance crowding the performers too closely. The Governor drove a four-in hand to the races, and had with him Admiral Lord Scott and Lord Carrington. The following were tho results of the races Maiden Handicap—Dolose I, Memorandum 2, Eruption 3. Hurdles—fitokowant 1, Parnell S, Black Joe 3. Juvenile Handicap—Mary 1, Leolantis 2, Miss Cole 3. Jubilee Cup-Raglan 1. Leorina 2, Antelope 3. Handicap Steeplechase—Recruit 1. Messenger 2, Orangeman 3. Selling Handicap—Blarney 1, Try Fluke 2. Flying Handicap-Heglan 1, 3 > taohnim 8. The weather tor the festivities to-day was beautifully fine, and tbsra was no lack el amusements. The chief event was tbe Handicap Yacht Race. Theie were also canoe races, second war dance (North Shore), and Inumerous harbor exodnions. The Horticultural Show and continuation of the pficket'matqh tskeq place to-morrow.
