New Plymouth is enveloped in smoke, and a heavy south westerly gale is blowing. Several settlers have bean burnt out near the Junction Road and the town of Inglewood is in danger. The Waiongara Railway Bridge caught fire, but the railway employees suooeeded in ex tinguiatiing the flames.
