At a meeting of the Auckland Stud Company yesterday, held to consider a letter from the Bank of New Zealand, asking for a redaction of the Company’s account by providing £io,ooonew capital for settlement of the indebtedness to the Bank, it was resolved to wind up the Company, and dispose of the assets, by sale or otherwise. COAL COMPANY—A LOSS. At the half-yearly meeting of the Bay of Islands Coal Company yesterday, the report showed a loss of £504, resulting from the stopping of the coal production while the mine was flooded. AUCKLAND CAS COMPANY. The Auckland Gas Company held its meeting yesterday. Dividends of 8s 6d on fully paid-up, and 4s 4d on half paid-up shares were declared. The directors announced that the reduction in the price was from 7s 6d to 6s 8d per 1000 feet. WELLINGTON GAS COMPANY.—SUBSTANTIAL DIVIDEND. Wellington, Tuesday, At the annual meeting yesterday of the Wellington Gas Company, the report of the directors recommended the payment of a further dividend of 6 per cent., making a total of 14X P er cent, for the year. The Chairman alluded to the falling off in the consumption of gas through the loss of street lighting, and by the general habits of economy, made possible by modern improvements, but he expressed > confidence that gas would have nothing I to fear from competition with electricity ; in the long run. This was not his opinion alone, but also of eminent gas engineers in England. CHRISTCHURCH GAS COMPANY—REDUCED PROFITS—GOOD DIVIDEND Chbistcrurck. Tuesday. At the annual meeting of the Gas Com. pany yesterday, a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum was declared. In consequence of the reduction in the price of gas, the profit was /28a less than last year and £6, 547 less than in 1887.
