Ministerial Visit.

[to the editor.] Sm,—lt is probable that the hon. the Native Minister will visit thia district and endeavor to ascertain the value of Mr Bees' scheme.— at any rate, for the settlement of some portion of this district. Tbs nakeha papulation of thia country have had to help themselves in every case of necessity, by the adoption of extraordinary measures, etc, In very few cases the requirements ot the times have received even satisfactory attention at the hands o! past Governments—on the contrary, the art of procrastination has been practised, True, we have to pay our taxes, and sea them expended in the maintenance of costly public works In other parte of tire colony, I should like very much to know what proportion of monetary benefit has been accorded to this electoral diatriot as compared with its tax-paying contribution to the general revenue fund. How are we to forge ahead unless we have a larger population to participate with ue in our disbursements in payment of the tax increment, by land settlement? And again, participation in public works expenditure within this diatriot is not only desirous, but really necessary. We have no Rotorua mizzles, or Under-Secretary’s puzzles, or mare’s nests here, but I suppose we have to pay for our ticket in these burlesques. It is refreshing, however, to sea Mr Bees endeavoring to help us by bis penistent and energetic efforts in the cause of land settlement. Many ot u» sincerely trust that he may succeed.“l ami Ao,, UHUHk
