Burning of the Whakaki Flaxmill.

LOSS OF £lOOO. [FBOM OUB OWN CDBBBBPOSDKNT.) Wairoa, last night. Hopkirk Brother** flaxmill at Whakakl was burnt down early on Sunday morning. Nothing is known of the origin of the fire. In addition to three strappers and Matchers and two sheds, fourteen tons of dreeaed flax was burnt, eight bales only being saved. Fortunately the engine woe not much damaged. Hopkirk Brothers, whose property was not insured, estimate their loss at about £lOOO. They intend to reinstate the mill and recommence operations as eooa as possible. Much sympathy Is felt for them here, they being hard working, enterprising men.
