A FEDERATED LABOR UNION FOR AUSTRALIA. FLOODS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. VICTORIAN RAILWAYS. A proposal made to furm a Federated Labor Council for Australia has been favorably received in Sydney. Heavy rains continue to do serious damage in Sydney and suburbs. It is understood that tbe Victorian railway return for the present year will show a Urge deficit. Tbe Argus estimates the deficit at £lOO,OOO, and the Age at £250,000. The Railway Commissioners state that this remarkable falling off has been caused by the many new lines that have been opened for traffic. Upon these new lines the expenditure exceeded the income, but the Commissioners anticipate that as soon as they are fairly in going order, the balange will be adjusted.
