Last night. Mr John Slater, tailor, Napier, was found dead in his bed this morning, at his residence, Dalton street, At an inquest this afternoon the medical evidence showed that death was caused by fatty digeneration of the heart, but a bottle of rough on rats was found on him and he had evidently taken some. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned. Deceased was much addicted to drink. He was aged about 55. unmarried. He was an old resident of Hawke’s Bay, having arrived over 30 years ago. Sixty of the Wellington Woollen Co.'s bands, mostly young girls, marched out of the works yesterday, in sympathy wi'h the discharged men.
