He neglects his work, and I am constantly receiving complaints of his nogleot. From October to March his contract specifies he shall empty each closet in the Borough once a week. He does not do so by any means, and he tries to get out of his work. Without going farth»r back thin last week he should have finished now. He can do the work when he chooses, but ho does not. The man he has had working for him refused to work for him again as he owes him £24 for wages. I leave the matter to your Coqacil t > alter as you consider best.

On the motion ot Cr Lucas it was decided to call the sureties’ attention to th, matter, at tho same time intimating that the remedies under the contract and bond would be strictly enforced unless the contract was properly carried out. Cr Whinray drew attention to the rapid growth ot thistles in the recreation ground, but the Council decided not to expend any money at present on the work. Accounts were passed as followsE.
