A GOOD WORK

The visit to Gisborne of the Rev. Mr Robjohns, the untiring secretary (for the Australasian colonies) of the British and Foreign Bible Society, is an event to which special attention may well be directed. Mr Robjohns represents a Society which has accomplished a great work, and it is entitled lo the help and encouragement of every Christian community. The Society has a common platform, its object being to circulate throughout all lands and in all languages that Book which is reverred by every Christian irrespective of sectarianism. The Society has circulated more than 112,000,000 copies of the Bible in more than 280 languages and dialects, there being no attempt to make a single proselyte. Mr Robjohns makes an annual visit to this district, but his mission has not previously awakened that interest which it might fairly be anticipated would be taken in it. It is to be hoped that this may not be said of the meeting to be held this evening, when Mr Robjohns will deliver an address in the Presbyterian Church.
