WELLINGTON. Last night. The Hon Messrs Mitchalson and Rioliardson leave for North on Monday next to vis-t Napier, Wairoa, Gisbornn. and Auckland, in connection with the affaire of the E-at Coast Settlement Company, which are, it a said, in a most involved condition. Tha natives who are interested in land which was ceded to the Company view with dismay, it is reported, the prospoot nf a total loss, which would leave some 20,000 of them landless, and are anxious to find a modu» vivendi. They urge that the land ia worth sufficient, if taken over by the Goverom-nt, to pay off all claims upon it and leave them considerable reserves and yield a profit to the Government. Mr Richardson will look into the matter from the Minister of Lsnda point of view, and Mr Mitchelson will enquire into the Maori aspect of the affair.
