"Our Surroundings.”
“PAKARAE.” |to the bditob.] Sir, —A correspondent who wrote in your last issue, under the above heading, and signed himself “Trix,” has surely made some great geographical discovery of late to have made the acquaintance of that monarch of Boriobungalboo, whose face is radiant with, smiles I was not aware that we had amongst us a true son of Erin who had made snch extreme scientific discoveries. Sorely, whilst at the Pakarae, he did not receive a manifestation through the spirit of His Majesty, during the course of our seance, whilst undergoing his midnight vigil of the mummy sheep up the petrified tree, and listening to the dulcet strains of the accordeon as played by the Maori boy for a friendly hornpipe. It would at least be a " Charity ” to inform “Cupid” over which portion of the Emerald Isle the said King reigned during Trix’s minority.— I am, Ac., No Tricks.
