ARRIVALS.
The U.B.S. Company’s Australia, from Auckland via way ports, arrived here on Thursday evening, bringing—Mr and Mrs Thaffer, Messrs Isaacs, Harris, and three Maoris. The Colonia! Union Company's s.s. Bayley name into port yesterday morning, from Napier, The Union S 3. Company’s Tarawera, from Sydney and Auckland, arrived in the bay shortly after 1 o’clock yesterday. P.s sengers : Mrs Clark, Misses Bradley (2), Mr Morgan. Judge Wilson, and seven steerage. The U.S.S. Company’s Southern Cross, from Wellington and N pier, arrived here yesterday afternoon, bringing—Mrs Gardiner, Messrs Sutherland and Harris.
DEPARTURES. The s.s. Australia went on south on Thursday night, taking—Mrs Parris, Misses Martelli, Podmore, Linkhorn, Messrs Nicholson (2), Greaves, Hume, Bivers, Chrisp, and Kenny. The schooner Atlanta sailed on Thursday, for the Coast, to load posts for Tauranga. The schooner Orpheus, for Timaru, sailed on Thursday, taking a cargo of grass seed. The schooner Opotiki sailed for Napier on Thursday evening. The s.s. Tarawera left for Melbourne via southern ports last evening. Passengers : Mrs Johnston and child, Misses Lunn, and Moore,Ker. J. Croxford. Messrs Watson, Hare, Ormond, Smaiil, Quinn, Goldsmith, Stevens. Bilbam, Parker, and one Maori. The s a. Southern Cross steamed on North Let evening. IMPORTS. TELEGRAPHIC. Spit. Yesterday. Sailed—Wild Wave, for Newcastle. Lyttelton, Thursday. Arrived—Ship Loch Carron, from Melbourne. Wellington, Thursday. Sailed—R.M.S. Ruapehu, at 6.10 p.m. for Plymouth, via Kio de Janiero. The topsail schooner Crest of the Wave Mils to-day for the Thames to load with timber for Lyttelton. Last evening the Union Company’s s.s. Wairarapa left Wellington for East Coast ports and Sydney. She will call in at Napier to-day and arrive here early to-morrow, proceeding on North at 8 am. Yesterday the steamer Bayley was taking in a load of frozen mutton from the hulk Prince of Wales. Captain M. Carey, late of the Union Steamship Company's steamer Rotomahana, has left her, and is now at Melbourne awaiting the arrival of the Company’s new steamei Monowai, from Home. He will assume command of her, and bring her to New Zealand.
