Borough Council Tenders.
CHEAP PRICES FOE A SMALL JOB. At the Council meeting ou Tuesday night, the tenders for outlet drains were opened, being as follows

A discussion took place on Wall’s tenders. Or Townley said he did not know the tenderer, but it being the lowest, they ought to accent his tender.
Cr Whinray seconded. In reply to Cr Coleman the Overseer said in the previous year the whole work cost £2O odd and the men had not made half wages. He considered Wall’s prices absurd. In reply to Cr Townlay the Overseer said there was more work in the drains this year, and the extra work would be worth about £5 more. . Or Taylor proposed that E. Hooper’s tender be accepted. Cr Coleman favored • ballot being taken, but Cr Townley pointed out that balloting was provided against—it must be open voting— The Mayor ruling that there could be no balloting with his knowledge, there seemed at first a desire that the Mayor should engross his Attention in • study of the maps on the wall, but Or Taylor's motion was then ae< ends 1 by Cr Lawls, and carried without dlluti
