The New South Wales Parliament was opened on Tuesday afternoon. In the speech from the Throne it was promised that a comprehensive measure would be brought down dealing with District Self Government. In connection with the Financial Statement it was intended to introduce reform in the existing tariff, and to re-adjust the burden of taxation.
The Marine Board at Brisbane has decided that the ill-fated Quetta struck on an unknown rock.
The man murdered in the Sydney Domain on Thursday has been identified as Dennis O’Connell, who was known to be in the possession of a fair amount of money.
Dr McLeod, who was arrested at Napier, has been committed for trial at Sydney on a charge of bigamy. The other charge, that of criminally assaulting a young woman in his employ, some years ago, fell through. The prosecutrix was unwilling to prosecute, and the case was accordingly dismissed.
