Sib,—The Council will find the above a diffi. cult mailer if they continue to transact business on the lines adopted at the last meeting, in reference to painting the house occupied by Mr Booth. A professional man was employed to make out several pages of particulars, for which he sands in a modest account at 10 per cent, on contract sum, and which is duly passed and paid, and that before a brush is put to the work. An ordinary person would have thought that Mr Faram, a practical builder, and servant of the Council, would have been considered fully as competent to ms the building get a couple of costs of paint as a professional, and that without any 10 percent, charge.—l am, etc., Booran,
