[to THZ ZDITOB.I Sib,—The report which appeared io to-night’i Herald concerning my case is a sample of the despicable attempts at injury which may ba expected from a certain quarter which has already branded itself. Tbe paper alluded to states that I was charged with allowing gambling on my premises on a Sunday, and that is nothing short of an inhmous lie, evidently inspired for a purpose, I heed My nothing as to the merits of tbe oaee, as those who know anything of it, apart from tho falee notion attempted to be conveyed by th* Herald, will understand that it was purely a test one as to whether I oould enjoy myself la my own way in my own room—the information made no reference whatever to Bun* day.—l am, *B..
