H.B. EDUCATION BOARD.

TBX eiSBOBNX COXXITTXB AND SCBOnABIHIM, Napier, last night. A meeting of the Education Board waa held yesterday. In reference to a letter from the Gisborne Committee, asking that certain scholarships won by scholars under 15 years of age be renewed if they fulfilled certain conditions in the examination. It was decided that the request, being against the scholarship regulations, could not be granted. INCBBASI IN MB. MANN’S BALABT, A recommendation that the salary of Mr Mann, Master of the Secondary branch of the District High School, be increased from £205 to £225, per annum, was agreed to. THE WABBBN3A A HIKA SCHOOL. A letter was received from Waerengaabika, asking for the retention ef Mri McClure as assistant mistress. The Board declined to withdraw the notice given, but will be prepared to reconsider the question if the average attendance increases before the period of notice expires. THE BUILDING BUND. A list of requirements for buildings, prepared for the Inspector to forward to Government, waa submitted to the Board, and slightly altered. The fallowing amounts relate to ths Gisborne district:— Nuhska—£3oo for a new school. Gisborne—£3so for additions, and £lOO for repairs to schools, and £lOO for repairs to teacher’s residence. Te Aral—£ls fir repairs to school. Ormond—£22s for a new residence. The totals are as follows: —New schools, £1,530; additions, £1,640 ; repairs, £610; repairs to residences, £287; new reaidenoas, £3,650; grand total, £7,737. Hit BCHOLABSHIB9. It was decided that the scholarship examinations in December be held under tbs old regulations. The new regulations had been objected to by the Giuobhx Standabo, and other papers.
