YESTERDAY’S RACES.
The miserable weather yesterday put a damper on sport of any kind, and it is almost unnecessary to say that the attendance at the race meeting at Waerenga-a hika was not large. But all things being considered there was a fair number present, and as the rain kept off those who went out to the course had an enjoyable day. The races were all got off in commendable time, and there was no dispute or complaint of any kind during the day. Mr J. Harding efficiently conducted the onerous duties of Secretary, and Mr C. D. Bennett acted in the dual capacity of Handicapper and Jtfdge. Captain Winter officiated-as Starter, Mr Colebrook as Clerk of the Scales, and Mr A. Pritchard as Clerk of the Course.
