EAST COAST CONSTITUENCY.

It has been so often repeated that Mr Rees will not again stand as a candidate for the East Coast constituency that many of his opponents have adopted an air of smug serenity which is in striking contrast to the tone they adopted at election times. We have made enquiries upon the subject and learn on the best of authority that up to the present Mr Rees has not in the slightest degree wavered in his resolution to again contest the seat. The way in which Mr Arthur is treating harbor matters has caused much dissatisfaction among those electors who formerly supported him, and there is every reason to fear that his general Parliamentary duties must be greatly neglected on account of native land matters in which he is himself concerned.
