During a performance at Womb wall'a menagerie aud circus at Accrington an accident took place which caused great excitement. The black lion tamer, Earnle, was performing with a large tiger which was attached to a light cart In the circus ring. Esrnie had hold or a rope wnlch was around the tiger's neck, One of the performing horses came Into tha ring, and the cart was backed does up to the horse for the purpose of allowing the tiger to get on tho horse's back. Tho horse kicked and smashed tho cart, Tho tiger got loose from the cart and roared In a frightful manner, sending a shudderthrough the crowd of people, who rushed to tho exite, Tbe tiger tried to get out of the ring and underneath the seats occupied by the people. Tbe cries of women end children wore hoard, and a general stampede end confusion ensosd. Earnie had a rope attached to the animal, and he did his beet to hold lhe infuriated beast, but was dragged across the ring. After a great deal of pulling and tagging the tiger was got into his cage.
