The detective employed by him,however, supported Miss Wiedmann’s case, but nevertheless the jury disagreed, and could not arrive at a verdict.
AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Dr McLeod, convicted of bigamy, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. COLONIAL TELEGRAMS. AUCKLAND. Last night. A letter received in Auckland from Sir Robert Stout states that he will stand for the House against Mr Hislop. At Hamilton an old man named George Mays was felling a tree, along with bis son, when he slipped and fell in front of his son's axe, which nearly severed his arm above the wrist.
