The Whangara Case.
At the last meeting of the Borough Council the Mayor moved the foliowingjresolutions, which were seconded by Cr Whiaray, and unanimously adopted 1. That it is with great satisfaction this Council has heard that an amicable settlement has been arrived at af er several years of heavy litigation of all matters in dispute between Mr Charles Seymour and the native owners of the Whavgara Block. 2. That it is of the greatest importance to this colony and especially to the East Coast district that an Act should be passed giving effect to the terms of the agreement arrived at with regard to the Whangara Block, and also enabling other disputed titles to be settled in tho same
amicable manner. 3. That this Council believer that if such an Act be passed that the greater number of native land I isles in this district would in :ha course of a few months be settled, thus increasing tho prosperity of whole colony and this district in particular. 4. That this Council strongly urges upon tho Government the immediate necessity of passing suoh an Act. 5. That these resolutions bo telegraphed to the Government and also to tho member of the East Coast.
