COUNTY COUNCIL.
The above body met yesterday afternoon. Present: The Chairman, and Crs Coleman, King, Murphy, Orr, Wethered, and Stubbs. A letter was received from the Post Office complaining of the state of the wire used on the Pakarae Ferry.—Acknowledged. Mr Stewart, Waiapu, offered to pay 2s per week to the ferryman provided he carried the school children across the river, thus adding £5 a year to his present remuneration. — Approved. Nolan and Skeet wrote claiming £5 12s, for damage done to a cart on the old ferry road.—. The Council disclaimed liability. Mr J. Trimmer wrote complaining of the state of the Arikihiroad.—The Engineer said he had requested Mr Trimmer to make the repairs to the extent of £5, The Borough Council sent in a report on the damage done to the Turanganui bridge. —Decided to endorse the action of the Borough Council. It was ordered that a fine of £5 be inflicted on McLoughlin for delay in delivering gravel on the Ormond Whataupoko road. An amount of unimportant business was transacted.
