THE HARBOR SITE.
Nothing definite is yet known as to Mr O’Connor’s opinion concerning the breakwater site. It will take him some days yet to complete his work of inspection, but he will probably hold an interview with the Board on Tuesday next. He had a fine day yesterday for taking soundings. Mr W. Armstrong, from the local Survey Office, is assisting Mr O’Connor in the taking of soundings. Whatever the opinion may be, it is one that will be accepted without cavil from from any side, as Mr O’Connor is regarded as the highest authority we could have in the matter, and one who will be free from the slightest suspicion of bias. He is at liberty to arrive at his own conclusions without having an interested brother professional always at his elbow. The report will be looked forward to with a great deal of interest.
