The Napier wood and ooal merchants have combined in the adoption of a fixed scale of piicee. At the Police Court on Thursday morning Mary Ross pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, and was fined 10s, in default 24 bqursOn Mr Hislop stating the action it ia intended to take with regard to the charges made by Mr Hutchison, that gentleman replied that he heard tbe statement with satisfaction. The Government had apparently decided that tbe public charges should be fought out in the House, and be thought properly so. He was perfectly ready to deal with those charges, but had not yet had an opportunity of doing so. The three courvbs referred to by Mr Hielqp had at last been explained. Tbe first course was a voyage of discovery to tbe printing office, the second wss the volume of statistics which was now laid on the table, and the third was an action in the Supreme Court. Ho was not at all disconcerted at those courses, nor was he dismayed at tbe prospect ot an action in the Supreme Court. He had never sought to set up the question ot privilege except so tar aa it was proper the digoity ef the House should be maintained,
