Mew Oil Company.

The following gentlemen attended the meeting held at the Masonic Hotel last night to consider the formation of a syndicate to continue to work the oil prospects in this district:—Messrs F. Parker, F. J. Innes, J. H. Stubbs, J. A. Harding, P. Bourke, J. Smaill, T. Chrisp. J. O. Barnard. F. J. Piesse, W. Cooper, and G. Williams. Oapt, Chrisp was voted to the chair. Mr Piesse rose and stated tho object of the meeting, It proposed that a hundred £lO shares bs tshen up by local gentlemen ; that Read’s trustees ba interviewed as to concessions; and that the tools of the last Pacific well be withdrawn, and the well sunk another 300 ft. After a ehort discussion the following resolution was passed : “ That we, the undersigns,, agree, in the event of Read's trustees granting the foregoing concessions, to subscribe for shares in lha proposed syndicate, provided that the hund:oi shares at £lO are subscribed f>r to the satisfaction of the committee appointed; that a committee be formed to interview Read’s trustees, and solicit subscriptions." The following committee were then appointed: Captain Chrisp, Mesas W, Maude, and P H. Bourke. Twenty-one shares were subscribed in the room.
