The schooner Waiwera was to have sailed for Auckland last night. The schooner Waiapn left for Turehiu again during Tuesday night, and will most probably return here to-day. While Bai ing into the river at half tide on Monday afternoon, the schooner Opotiki grounded. An at'empt was made to get her <ff that night, but she unfortunately came in contact with the piles of the breastwork, and it was found impossible to float the ves-el on that tide. On Tuesday morning there was a rather heavy roll coming in, and the Opotiki was bumping heavily on the papa rocks. At one time it was feared that she would become a total wreck. The Snark, however, wi h the assistance of the crews of the schooners Waiwera and Gisborne, managed with difficulty to get the vessel off, and she was eventually berthed alongside thewisdnct. Several of the piles of the breastwork r which were carried away by the Opotiki have been washed out to sea. The U. 5.8,. coastal steamer Southern Cross arrives from Auckland this afternoon.
