Cumulative Vote at School Elections.
KILLED AFTER AN EIGHT YEARS’ STRUGGLE.
[special to the standard.] Wellington, last night.
The cumulative vole at School Committee elections ia doomed. The School Committee Election Bill, which clearly defines the term ” Householder," provides for nomination, and does away with the objectionable cumulative vote, has at last succeeded in passing through both Houses of Legislature. For eight successive years this measure passed through the House of Itepresentatvies, and was as frequently ki led in the Legislative Council. The Upper House last evening passed the second reading by seventeen to nine, and the final stages were negotiated without amendment.
