Mr Creagh and the Butchers’ Union.
[TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —I have been shown a clipping from the Gisbounk Standard, in which I am made to say that Mr Sunderland was in favor of a Butchers’ Union being established in Gisborne, I never gave utterance to such words. What I did say was. that when speaking to Mr Sunderland about Unions, from his speech I thought he was in favor of Unions if properly worked. As I was addressing a meeting of butchers at the time, I suppose it was taken that' Mr Sunderland was in favor of a Butchers’ Union started. Not one word about a gutchers’ Union ever passed between myself and Mr Sunderland.—l am, dro., B. B. Creagh. Spit, September 15, 1890. [We inserted the paragraph for what was worth, giving the authority. As no contradiction appeared in the News we took it for granted that their report was an accurate one.—Ed J
