SHIPPING.
ARRIVALS. The Union Company’s steamer Australia, from Wellington and Napier, arrived here on Tuesday morning, bringing—Mr and Mrs Curtain, Mr and Mirs McLean, Mias Harris, Messrs Nicholls, McFarlane, Reardon, Boyle, Williamson, Hargreaves, Anderson, Fountain, and Fodmore. The U. 8.8. Company’s Southern Cross came into port shortly after 8 o’clock on Tuesday evening. On the passage down she called in at Hick’s Bay, Tuparoa, and Taloga Bay. At the latter port she was unable to discharge any cargo owing to the heavy sea running. Passengers: Major Porter (and son) and Mr Edwards.
DEPARTURES. The s. 3. Australia left for coast ports and Auckland on Tuesday, taking—Messrs Robb, Cunningham, and two natives. The s. *. Southern Cross went on to Napier yesterday afternoon, taking—Mrs and Mi-s Hay, Mrs Bennett and four children, Dr Innes, Master Murphy, Messrs Reardon and W. K. Chambers.
