Hospital Trustees.

An ordinary meeting of the Hospiia Trustees was held last night. Present Captain Tucker (Chairman), and Messrs Lucas, Watson, Hepburn, Stubbs, Nolan, and Dr Innes. The monthly report submitted, showed: remaining from last month, 7 ; admitted, 6 ; discharged, 5; remaining at present, 8 The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £174 7s Id. Accounts amounting to <£lo9 9s 9d were passed for payment. In the payments were included Dr Pollen’s salary of £37 10s, for last quarter, which was passed on the motion of Mr Watson, seconded by Mr Nolan, after discussion on the correspondence. Under date, Sept. 22, Dr Pollen wrote, in reply to a communication from the Secretary, that he had made a good search through his instruments, and was returning four altogether. In reply to a further letter from the Secretary, directed by the Trustees, Dr Pollen sent the following :— ,r My salary must be passed unconditionally before I again write to the Trustees; withholding it in unprecedented and insulting. Re telephone : I certainly shoul l have declined to pay for the removal of it bad Dr lunes not undertaken to do so. I should have justified my refusal by the extreme discourtesy of the Trustees in not even nominating my successor in my practice to the vacancy caused by my resignation.—l am, dear sir, yours truly, Hy. Pollen. Wellington, Bth October, 1890.”

With reference to the subject of the telephone it was decided to discuss the matter when the work of removal is completed, many of the Trustees being of opinion that Dr Pollen should be he'd to his undertaking provided the cost of removal exceeded the amount which Dr Innes has agreed to pay, £5. The Visiting Committee appointed for the ensuing month are Messrs Agnew Brown and R. Watson.

The Secretary announced that preliminary steps had been taken with regard to the annual sports, a mefi’i”g having been convened for Friday night to arrange a pro« gramme, etc.
