Tiinai? was a largo attendance at the meeting last night, to make arrangements for the holding of the annual sports in aid of the Ho pita! funds. Captain Winter was voted to the chair. It was settled that the sports bo held ou Monday, December 1. The following g ■ntlomen were appointed to superintend the arrangements. Patrons : His Worship the Mayor and Chairmen of local bodies; Judges: Messrs Crawford, R. Wa’sun, C.C Lucas, Nolan, and Akroyd ; Starter : Captain Winter ; Referee : Mr C. Evans; Handicappers: Messrs Primrose, Nisbett, and B’raser; Treasurer: J. Coleman; Secretaries: Messrs H McKay and R. N. Jones:. A discussion took place as to what number should comprise th® Committee. Captain Winter pointed out that it was usual to have on a number of people who gave no assistance, leaving the burden of the work to fall upon the few, the result being that the latter got disgusted and felt inclined to throw up their connection with the sports. After discussion it was proposed by Mr Nolan, and carried, that the number of the Committee be four, giving them power to increase their number to twelve. A show of hands being taken the following gentlemen were elected : Messrs T. Morrison, C. F. Lewis, W. O Skeet, and P. Milne.

Mr McKay proposed, and Mr Lucas seconded, that money prizes should not be less than those given last year.-—Carried.

The previous programme was revised, and was at length settled as follows Maiden Race, 200yds; Boys under 16, 150 yards; Open Handicap, luOy.is; Hop, Step, and .Tump; High Jump, for horses; St. Andrew’s Handicap (throe events -150. 220, and 4/10yds), Boys under 12, Three Miles Handicap, Running High Jump (handicap), Mile Walk, Girls (under 16), Bicycle Race (handicap), Champion Race (300yds), Tilting at Ring, Putting Stone, Handicap Hurdles, Three legged Race, Milo Race.
