ACCEPTANCES FOR THE MELBOURNE CUP. Melbovrvb, October 28. Thera are forty-two accptances ao far for the Melbourne Cup, as follows Melos, Carbine, Cuirassier, Sir William, Richelieu, Singapore. Chintz, Lawyer, Benzon, Prince Consort, Queen, Tantalla, Newminster, Chaldean, Whakawal, Tarcoola, Carrington, Titan, Vengeance, Admiral, Tourhillon, Jebnsite, Little Bernie, Muriel, Whimbrel, Ernani, Gatling, Corroze, Anesley, Spot, Loyalstone, Harbor Light, Copenhagen, Rich Ruby, Highborn, Mantilla, Plenty, Laps tone, Emancipation, Esmeralda, Enuc, and Firelock. The tracks at Flemington wore very fust yesterday morning, and some magnificent gallops were recorded. Singapore travelled two miles in 3 38, tho last six furlongs of tho distance occupying 1.22. Hiohilieu was sent a mile and a half, which ho got over iu 2.16, and Correzo put a mile and a quarter behind him in 2 20, Wilga taking a half second longer to do tho same distance Prince .Consort badly boat Tantalla over
two miles, tbe time for tho spin be i registered at 3.441}. Titan, with big weight up, joined the pair, and raced in company with them for a mile and a half, which he oompasped in 2m 50?. Melos took 2 43 to cover a mile and a half. Carbine perforrnjed a splendid gallop on the sand for mile?, which he succeeded in disposing of in 3.12. Little B rnie and Sir William raced together, succeeding in covering two miles in 3 48. Gibraltar, who has been absent from tho course for some days past, was worked this morning. At Caulfield Cuirassier beat Whimbrel by eight lengths in a mile and a half gallop, which Whimbrel executed in 2.49. Last night Enuc, who finished third to Vengeance and Loyalstone in the Caulfield Cup, was backed to win £20,000, and is now favorite for the Melb mme Cup at 100 to 10, Melos and Carbine 100 to 9.
