An inquest on the incendiary fire at the Government Buildings was held on Wednesday. A verdict was returned that the building was wilfully and maliciously set fire to by some person unknown, there being no evidence tn show whd it was. Mr David Griffith o , r>f Rotorua, has purchased the Hot Lakes Weekly Chronicle at a Rfttif-faotory price. The weekly will still be printed at the Bay of Plenty Times office. There is great interest taken in the County elections,every riding being contested, ana naturally much excitem n nt has been created. The fruit trees were much damaged by the late heavy winds, and it is feared there will be very few peaches, apricots, or plume. A largo area of land has been sown this season with maize, The flax mills are in full work, and at Kaikopu flax brought to the mills is 14 foot long.
