The Benin correspondent of the Tinies advises consumptive patients to repair to Berlin forthwith, as a tremendous influx of sick people is expected. The directors of tbe New Zealand Estates Company have now granted special settlements. The Standard is indignant at the New Zealand Government concealing the bankruptcy of the New Plymouth Harbor Board for a whole year, and considers it ought at least to accept the obligation of the debt of £60,000. The London Association of Shipowners and Brokers, representing a million tons, have joined the Shipping Federation. They include the following shipping companies P. and 0., Orient, Currie and Co., Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. The Federation now numbers six and a half million tons.

The St. James’Gazette states that an arrangement has nearly been arrived at with respect to the Newfoundland fisheries. France is to abandon the “ French shore" and Newfoundland is to relax the Bait Act. England also cedes Gambia to France. Sixteen tenants and their families have been evicted from Olphert estate. The evictors were protected by a strong force of military. Major Bartellot’s father demands that Parliament should institute an enquiry into the charges brought against his son by Stanley and other members of the expedition. H.M.S. Serpent has been lost of? the coast of Spain, with great loss of life.
