Saturday, November 22, MR ARTHUR’S ADDRESS.
Be just and fear net; Let ull the ends thou oiia’dt at he thy country’s, Thy God’s, and truth’s.
A very patient hearing was given Mr Arthur on Thursday evening. The candidate is deserving of a compliment, to begin willi, or rather he cannot be taken to task, on one point. He refrained from his usual habit of alluding to his opponents as if they were not possessed of intelligence, There was the same egotism all through, and the whole address could have been condensed into a big capital I. Even in his allegiance to the Government he confessed that he was sitting on a rail, and if they do not conduct the Government of the country as he, the great Mr Arthur, desires, he will come down from the rail, and scamper off to the other camp. Ihe address nfiglit be very easily disposed off in a couple of trite sentences, but out of courtesy we will postpone further reference to it through our leader columns until next issue, when we hope to be able to devote a fair amount of space to it.
