Mr Lean, of Hawke’s Bay, has undertaken to ride a horse 120 miles in 24 hours, for a wager; in about five weeks’ time. Surely there is enough decency in Hawke’s Bay to prevent such horrible cruelty, which would be a disgrace to any community. There is no doubt the brutal feat can be accomplished, but it should be prevented.
