The Opotiki Mail, in replying to a statement that many would consider the civil course a very ample remedy for the Rev. Mr Wills to seek in the libel action against Mr Bates, says that in ” actual practice civil action is not brought against a libeller unless there is some probability of getting costs at least out of him. 1 ’ We do not happen to know Mr Bates, but if the Mail truly speaks the mind of a minister of religion, then religion must be sadly changing up Opotiki way. Possibly we are drifting behind the times, and getting fossilised tn matters of “religion."
