Madame Burton’s Company.
A concert company, of which all the the vocalists are in their prime, is so seldom met wiih in this part of the world, that people will welcome the announcement that next week the celebrated vocalist, Madame Marian Burton, will give a short series of concerta in the Theatre Royal. Ab the contralto of Adelina Patii ar d feims Reeves’ Concert Companies, and as the pri-ma donna contralto of the Carl Rosa Opera Company, the expectations of musical people were very high when Madame Burton gave her opening concert in Auckland about two months ago, but the expec-Btions were fully realised, and the verdict of the northern city lisa been confirmed in all the places down south visited by the Company. The artistes who assist the star are Miss Colbourne-Baber, a young soprano; Mr Henry Stockwell, the popular tenor; Mr Frank Bradley, a wellknown English Organist and pianist; and perhaps the most celebrated of them all, the French violinist, Horace Pouss&rd. It will readily be underrtood that with so many artistes, the Company possesses a very extensive repertoire, bo that a complete change of programme can be given for a much longer series of concerts than is likely to be given in Gisborne.
