About three o’clock yesterday aft emo n the coastal steamer Australia came into the roadstead, from Auckland via East Coast ports, bringing Mr and Mrs Fox, Mr and Miss Paratene Ngata, Mrs Fannin, Misses McKinnon and Clayden, Sir George Whitmore, Messrs Henderson, McDonald, H. Crook, and Somerville. departures. The Australia steamed on to Napier last evening. Passengers: Messrs Harris, F. O’M para, Jordan, and Israel. The steamer Star of England completed loading with frozen mutton on Wednesday, and steamed on to Napier the same evening. TELEGRAPHIC. Lyttelton, Thursday. Arrived—Barque Lorngana, from Hobart. Spit, Thursday. Arrived—Star of England, at 5 a.in., from Gisborne. Auckland, yesterday. Arrived—Omapere, at 1 a.m., from Gisborne, * The steamer Australia returns here from Napier early to-morrow morning. At 6 o’clock last evening the steamer Rotomahana left Auckland for Melbourne and Hobart, via Southern port?, and is due in the bay about the same hour to-night. The outward passengers will leave the wharf at 7. The steamer Waihora leaves Wellington this evening, and calling in at Napier tomorrow, arrives here at daylight on Monday. She goes on to Auckland, Bussell and Sydney at 6. The schooner Opotiki, which sailed for’ Napier last week, took the following cargo 42 bales wool, 17 part bales wool, 33 bags wool, 190 loose sheep skins, 25 bundles skins, 22 hides, 71 pelts, 3 bales pelts, 3 casks tallow, shipped by Loan and Mercantile Co.
