Garrett Brothers’ Estate.
MEETING OF CREDITORS. [special to the standajux] Auckland, ast night, A meeting of creditors in the estate 0! Garrett Bros., of Auckland and Gitborne, wa* held this afternoon. After some discussion on ths affairs of the estate, Mr Nicholson moved that tenders be called for tbe purchase of ths stock and goodwill ot the business in Sueen Street, in Gisborne, and Karangahape oad.
Mr Tewsley move! an amendment that the whole of the manufactured stocks of boots and shoes, except that in Gisbcrne, be sold by auction, and that Mr Lewis be em> ployed to dispose of them without delay j the Gisborne stock to be sold by tender. Considerable discussion followed' as tc which course was the more advisable. Then Mr Nicholson withdrew his motion in favor of an amendment by Mr Fleming— That Mr Leys' offer be accepted, viz., 10s in tbe £, bait cash and half at three months, tor ihe three stocks ot boots, valued per list £2235, less allowance on stock sold since sloulw taking at the same rate as tender. Mr Nicholson's motion being withdrawn, a* further protracted discussion took place of the proposals of Messrs Tewsley and Fleming. At length the latter was being put to the meeting, when Mr Nicholson objected to the executor under the late Robert Garrett's will being allowed to vote. This objection brought tho proceedings to a standstill, and it was decided to adjourn the meeting till next Friday afternoon, to allow legal opinion on the point to be obtained. Before adjourning the following resolution was carried, ou the motion of Mr Flemirffi seconded by Mt Nicholson—That the remain* ing stocks In the tanuery, farm, and facto:? be sold by auction by Mr Lewis, as soon SC convenient,
