A Christchurch telegram on Monday gives the following particulars of the funeral cf a former Gisborne magistrate The funeral of the late Caleb Whitefoord, R.M., took place this afternoon, his remains hiving arrived from Dunedin on Saturday. The cortege was headed by the Garrison Band, the police, and the volunteer?, and was followed by members of the haw Society and a large and representative gathering of citizens. All the places of business en route were temporarily defied, and at Rangiora and Kaiapoi alto all the business places and public schools were closed as a mark of respect. The flags on the Government buildings and other places were flying at half mast. Great crowds lined the roads along the route of the procession. The deceased gentleman was buried in the Papanui cemetery with military houora. The firing party was formed from the Kai&poi iiifies, of which deceased was G&ptaia,
