ARRIVALS. The Union Company's steamer Tarawera (Captain Sinclair) from Southern ports, arrived in the roadstead on Tuesday morning. Passengers : Mesdatnes Shelton and family, Taylor and child, Ranger, Holden, Kilcall and family, Misses Barker (3), Townley, and Ottaway, Rev. and Mrs Lewis, Archdeacon Williams, Messrs Barker (2), Hunter, Ranger, Dickie and family, Mclntyre, Monat, Forbes (2), McArthur, Smitten, J. Clark, F. Parker, Tiffen, Davis, Sheen, Stevenson, Russell, Patterson, Watts, Stoddard, Baring, and Pearce (2). At 230 on Tuesday afternoon the N.Z. Shipping Company’s iron ship Opawa, from London via Lyttelton arrived here. She left the latter port on Saturday last and encountered the full force of the southerly gale, which has been blowing for the pist few days, and the wind being in a favorable direction the vessel made a smart trip of three days. She loads up here with frozen mutton and wool. DEPARTURES. The Tarawera resumed her voyage North after discharging cargo, taking — Misses Evans, Wood, and H. Jones, Master Lucas, Messrs Parker, Pettie, Cox, McKay, Caulton and son, and Smart. The schooner Waiwera sailed yesterday for Auckland. IMPORTS. Per Tarawera—2 cases. Clothing Factory > 9 pkgs, Barker ; 6 cases tea, 10 sacks oatmeal, Adair; 8 cases, Whinray; 1 case tea, Lewis; 3 cases tea. P.B. Farmer’s Association; 2 crates. Common, Shelton and Co.; 1 case, J. Clark; 5 cases nails, Wingate, Burns and Co.; 5 sacks corn, L. and M.A. Co.; 1 drum, 1 keg, Clayton and Sawyer; 19 burs iron, 3 pkgs, Humphreys. EXPORTS. Per Tarawera—3 casks beef, L. and MA. Co.; 30 kegs beef, 2 tierces beef. TELEGRAPHIC. Auckland, Tuesday. Arrived—Manapouri, at 10.50 a.m., from Sydney. Bailed—Southern Cross, at 6 p.m., for East Coast ports end Gisborne, Wellington, last night. Arrived—R.M.S. Asrangi, at 230 a.m., from Plymouth via Hobart, EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Awaroa, topsail schooner, from Mercury BaySaucy Kate, schooner, from Greymouth. Opotiki, Schooner, from Napier. The steamer Southern Cross is due from the North this evening. The steamer Manapouri, from Sydney, Russell, and Auckland reaches here about 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The outpassengers will be token off at 5. The A ustralia was 23 J hours on her trip to Napier. The cutter Venus is now being altered into a ketch. Ths freezing bulk Prinoa of Wales had a very narrow escape from being driven ashore yesterday morning. About 11.30 the cable parted and the vessel drifted some distance. A second anchor was run out, but the hulk was dose in shore before this was accomplished. Steam was got up, and ths vessel was afterwards moored at the usual aneborage. Beside the anchor about 90 fathoms of chain has been lost.
