ROWING.

AUCKLAND V. POVERTY BAY.

Thk Auckland Rowing representatives arrive by the steamer Hauroto, and on Saturday the first big event takes place, the Auckland and Poverty Bay crews doing battle for supremacy. The race takea placa on the Taruheru river, the finish being at the bhed. Tbe boats leave the shed at a quarter to ten, the race being fixed for ten. Much interest is taken in thin event. The general feeling seems to be that the Poverty Bay Club will uphold the high reputation won by its c-ews. Still they have a strong craw to compete with : if they succeed in making a good race of it they will have done well, and if they are victorious the win will be exceedingly popular. The following are the crews:—
